EXPLORING THE PEARL OF AFRICA
Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa whose diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains and immense Lake Victoria. Its abundant wildlife includes chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary. Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest is known for its 43m-tall waterfall and the BIG 5 wildlife game such as hippos.
Straddled across the Equator and perched on the northern shores of Lake Victoria. Situated at the heart of the African continent, Uganda Safaris offer a range of adventure and holiday activities which range from gorilla tracking, world class white water rafting at the Source of the Nile River and Wildlife game viewing within the peaceful unpolluted and undegraded safari national parks. In terms of its size, Uganda is relatively a small country roughly the size of Great Britain or the State of Oregon in the United States America. Despite its small size, Uganda is the most alluring African safari destination given its features which include undegraded and unpolluted forests, shimmering lakes and mountains. Most of the country is 1,000 m above sea level and there are three mountainous areas - the Rwenzoris, Mount Elgon and the Virunga volcanoes.
A prime Africa tour destination, Sir Winston Churchill referred to Uganda as "The Pearl of Africa". No comprehensive description can explain the natural beauty that greets you on a Uganda Safari. Meeting the eyes of a mountain gorilla on the bamboo-clumped slopes of the Virungas? Rafting grade five rapids on the Nile? Following a narrow rainforest trail a whirl with a heart-stopping pant-hoot chorusing of chimpanzees? Cruising the Kazinga Channel in the shadow of Ruwenzori while elephants drink from the nearby shore? Watching a prehistoric shoebill swoop down on a lungfish in the brooding reed-beds of Mabamba Swamp? The roaring, spraying sensory overload that is standing on the tall rocks above Murchison Falls? Well, there only so much we can write here about Uganda safaris before we start sounding like door salesmen. Come see for yourself, we'll help you plan the trip at your stated budget.
